જ્યારે એક માણસ ચાલીસમા વર્ષમાં પ્રવેશે છે ત્યારે તેને કહેવામાં આવે છે, "સાવધાન થઈ જા; કારણ કે હવે તું ક્ષમાપાત્ર રહ્યો નથી. અને ચાલીસ વર્ષનો માણસ વીસ વર્ષના યુવાન કરતાં બહાનાંનો વધુ હકદાર નથી."

When a person reaches forty years of age, it is said to him: 'Beware, for you no longer have an excuse; a forty-year-old is no more entitled to excuses than a twenty-year-old.'

જ્ઞાનીનું પાપ એક છે, પરંતુ અજ્ઞાનીના બે પાપ છે. જ્ઞાનીને પાપ કરવા બદલ સજા આપવામાં આવશે, જ્યારે કે અજ્ઞાનીને પાપ કરવા બદલ અને સાથે સાથે જ્ઞાનને છોડી દેવા બદલ પણ સજા આપવામાં આવશે.

The knowledgeable person's sin is one, but the ignorant person's sins are two: the knowledgeable person is punished for committing the sin, whereas the ignorant person is punished for committing the sin and also for abandoning knowledge.
