જ્યારે જ્ઞાન વિષે પૂછવામાં આવ્યું, ત્યારે કહ્યું: ચાર વાતો: ૧. ઈશ્વરથી તમને જેટલા પ્રમાણમાં જરૂરિયાત છે તેટલા પ્રમાણમાં તેની ભક્તિ કરો. ૨. જેટલા પ્રમાણમાં આગને સહન કરી શકો છો તેટલા પ્રમાણમાં જ પાપ કરો. ૩. તમારી દુનિયા માટે તેટલો જ પ્રયત્ન કરો જેટલી ઉંમર તમે તેમાં વિતાવવાના છો. ૪. તમારા પરલોક માટે જેટલી લાંબી મુદત ત્યાં પસાર કરવાના છો તેટલો પ્રયત્ન કરો.
When asked about knowledge, he said: Four things: 1. Worship God to the extent of your need for Him. 2. Disobey Him only to the extent of your endurance against the fire. 3. Work for your world in proportion to the lifespan you have in it. 4. Work for your hereafter in proportion to the duration you will spend in it.
આ દુનિયાને (ફક્ત) બે જ શબ્દોમાં વહેંચો: પહેલો શબ્દ હલાલની શોધ માટે, અને બીજો શબ્દ પરલોક માટે; (આ બંને સિવાય) ત્રીજો (શબ્દ) નુકસાનકારક છે, ફાયદો પહોંચાડનાર નથી, તેથી તે(ને પામવા)ની ઈચ્છા ન કરો.
Divide this world into just two words: one word for seeking the lawful, and one word for the hereafter; any third word besides these two is harmful and of no benefit, so do not desire it.
