જ્યારે એક જ્ઞાની પુરુષને મૂર્ખ વિષે પૂછવામાં આવ્યું ત્યારે તેમણે કહ્યું: જે પોતાના જ અભિપ્રાય અને પોતાની જાત પર મુગ્ધ (અભિમાની) હોય; જે તમામ ગુણો અને શ્રેષ્ઠતા માત્ર પોતાનામાં જ જુએ છે અને માને છે કે તેનામાં કોઈ ખામી નથી; જે તમામ હકો (અધિકારો) ફક્ત પોતાના માટે જ યોગ્ય માને છે, પરંતુ બીજાના પ્રત્યે પોતાની કોઈ ફરજ કે હક સમજતો નથી. આ એવો મૂર્ખ છે જેની સારવારનો કોઈ ઉપાય નથી.
When a wise man was asked about a fool, he said: One who is infatuated with his own opinion and self; who sees all virtues and excellence only in himself and believes he has no flaws; who considers all rights due only to himself, yet acknowledges no duty or right towards others. Such is the fool for whom there is no cure.
